Dhanbad dacoit’s mother justifies police’s action

Dhanbad, Sept 7: The mother of dacoit Shubham Singh, who was killed in an encounter during the Muthoot Finance office dacoity on Tuesday had justified the police’s action and requested the police to shoot the other four criminals as well.

“My son was a criminal and police did a good job by gunning him down but what would they (police) do with two other criminals by keeping them in police station. Pouring him pickle ( Achar) in police station? If police have the power then shoot them too,“ said  theshocked mother of Shubham Singh at post mortem house of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) today.

Shubham Singh, the resident of Bhuli Township of Dhanbad was killed in police encounter while trying to commit dacoity in Bank More based Muthood fin Corp Gold Company’s office on Tuesday morning. Five dacoits had come to commit crime in which two were arrested and other two managed to escape.

Singh’s mother along with husband Biswajit Singh, two minor daughters and relatives came to the post mortem house of Saraidhela based medical college to receive the body of her son. She resented that when police killed his son why she had not been allowed to see the body.

‘”Is it justice that a mother is being denied to see her son’s body,” she said.

She alleged that her son would have be saved had the police admitted him in hospital on time.  She stated that Shubham was a good student and had gone to study out of the state but bad company moved him to the path of crime.

When the police reached Shubham Singh’s  after the incident for confirmation on Tuesday evening, his father denied his involvement saying that he (Shubham) is in Pune for preparation of a competition. But after showing his photo family members recognised him.

In the late afternoon, police handed over the body to family members for the last rites amid tight security. Shubham’s father Biswajit Singh is a driver in outsourcing company in Katras of Dhanbad.
