Dhanbad, Dec 1: The district health department will search for 1,700 traceless HIV patients for covering them under treatment at the ATR centre.
Civil surgeon (CS) Dr Alok Vishwakarma while addressing health workers and social activists on the occasion of World AIDS Day at Randhir Verma Chowk said that in the district 3,000 HIV-infected persons are registered but only 1,300 of them take medicines at ATR centres regularly.
“Infected patients have to take medicines on advise of doctors regularly and should not ignore it at any cost,” he said. The civil surgeon called up the health workers and social activists involved in the campaign to search traceless persons and ensure their treatment for checking the fatal disease.
On the occasion health department also took out a rally under civil surgeon Dr Vishwakarma for awareness and alertness of people about HIV. The rally took out from Luby circular Road based Sadar CHC and terminated at Randhir Verma Chowk near the civil surgeon’s office.
Moreover, CS said that rally has been taken out for awareness of people against disease to check it. “Awareness is the only means to control it and medicines help in curing the infection,” he said.
Notably, Tata Steel Jharia Division also took out a rally to observe World AIDS Day. The rally came out from General Manager’s office and terminated at three Pits. Over 300 youth joined in the rally for awareness of people in colliery residential areas about general health as well as HIV danger.
The officer of the company on the occasion said that Tata Steel Foundation has been trying to improve the health of the community around its operational areas and has been working intensively to provide health facilities through medical clinics and health camps.
