Dhanbad, Jan 4: Fast Forward India (FFI), the social organisation of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad students, has decided to hold its annual festival ‘Ummid’ after three years on January 22.

The organisers of FFI said that due to Covid, the organisation could not hold the annual function’ Ummid’ after 2019. Since the situation has completely improved it has been decided to hold annual functions and competitions for encouraging school students.

FFI is a benevolent organisation of IIT ISM students which teaches and guides local street children and poor students free of cost.  FFI is famous for donating blood to the blood banks of government and private hospitals of Dhanbad and Bokaro for poor patients.

Whenever Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH)  Blood Bank faces a blood crisis  FFI bails out on very short notice by holding a camp on campus. Besides it, the  FFI of IITians also participates in social activities.

“We could not hold annual function in the last three years due to Covid.  So this year we have decided to organize again. For mental and moral skill development of schools students seven events Einstein Playground, Resolved, Music, Dance, Painting, Chess, Mastermind would be organized in the festival,” said the organisers.

Shedding light on seven events of the festival, FFI members said that in Einstein Playground school students would get an opportunity to make a scientific model. This would trigger interest among students in science.

In Resolved, the debate would be organised among students on different topics. In the Mastermind event, the general knowledge of students would be assessed. Chess is a mind game in which children display their perceptions. This is the first time that the chess game has been included in the ‘Ummid’ festival.

In music, dance and painting competitions children would get an opportunity to showcase their inner arts and express feelings.
