Dhanbad, Nov 28: Imams of the Nirsa assembly segment of the Dhanbad district have banned DJ, dance and display of fireworks in the marriage ceremonies of the Muslim community from December 2 (Friday).

The decision was taken at a meeting of Imams of Nirsa and Chirkunda held at Jama Masjid Sibilibadi, around 40 km away from district headquarters on Sunday.

The Imams unanimously announced that Nikahnama which would be solemnized according to Islam, there would be no DJ, dance or display of fireworks.

Maulana Masud Akhtar, head Imam of the Sibilibadi Jama Masjid who presided over the meeting, said that the violators of the decree would be slapped with a fine of Rs 5,100.

“It was also unanimously decided that no Nikahnama (marriage) would be performed at any cost after 11 pm. If anybody would do Nikahnama after 11 pm onward on December 2, they would be fined,” he said. The violators would also have to tender a written apology.

Imam Maulana Masud Akhtar said that if Nikah is not performed till 11 pm due to unavoidable reasons, it would be done the next morning after Fazar Nawaj.

“Extravaganza in Nikah is an non-Islamic. It has been witnessed that in marriage ceremonies, people spend beyond their capacity just for a show in society. Islam does not allow extravaganza in marriage, especially DJ, dance and fireworks which also cause inconvenience to the common people. So It has been unanimously resolved to impose a ban on it,“ he justified.

He said that the decree would be effective from December 2 (Friday) in the area which falls under the Nirsa assembly segment. He also appealed to the community members to share the decision with their relatives and stakeholders about it.

Over a hundred Maulanas including Hafij Sarfaraj Kadri, Hafiz Nasir Ajiji, Hafiz Khushnud, Maulana Mustafa, and Maulana Ekramul Huque were present at the meeting.
