Dhanbad, Oct 12: Firing for coal turf supremacy between leaders of two political parties rocked Dhanbad again on Wednesday. One person was injured critically in the incident and police arrested two youths in this connection.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Arvind Binha said the incident occurred in the afternoon at Kanta Ghar near Gararia Neem Basti under Kenduadih police station.

The injured person, identified as Mukesh Turi, is said to be a supporter of the state Congress Committee working president Jaleshwar Mahto. Turi was hit with a bullet in his neck and was referred to a hospital in Ranchi for better treatment.

The arrested youths were identified as Kumar and Vicki, residents of Kenduadih police station of the district. Both are said to be supporters of BJP’s Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto and have reportedly confessed their involvement in the bloody clash at Bansjora Kanta Ghar.

As per information, supporters of Dhulu Mahto and Jaleshwar Mahto got engaged in a heated argument at Bansjor Kanta Ghar (The weighing bridge of a coal truck). In the meantime, a youth fired from his revolver which hit Mukesh Turi. As he fell to the ground, commotion prevailed on the spot. Jaleshwar Mahto’s supporters caught the two youths fleeing from the spot and handed them over to the police.

The arrested youth informed the police that Dhulu Mahto had given a contract of Rs 5 lakh to Vicki Dome for killing Ram Rahim, the supporter of Jaleshwar Mahto. The Baghmara MLA paid Rs 70,000 as an advance to them for the crime.

When tried to contact, MLA Dhulu Mahto did not receive calls despite repeated attempts.

Tension was brewing in the area after Ram Rahim had reportedly got the Kanta Ghar closed where coal trucks of Dhulu supporters DO ( delivery order) holders had to be weighed.

DSP Arvind Binha, who reached the incident spot immediately after the incident, told media persons that police recovered one cartridge and seized nine bikes on the spot. “Investigation is on to find out the reason behind firing,” he said.
