Dhanbad, July 11: Renowned physician of the coal belt Dr Abir Kumar Chakravarty has been re-nominated as Chairman of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) state chapter Academy of Medical Specialties five-member committee for the next term of three years.
IMA State Secretary Dr Pradip Kumar Singh, giving this information today, said that the other office-bearers of the committee are Dr BK Pankaj of Chas (Bokaro) as Vice Chairman, Dr VK Pandey of Dhanbad (secretary), Dr Major Chandan of Dhanbad ( treasurer) and Dr Gaurishankar of (Deoghar district) as joint secretary.
Dr Singh congratulated the new office bearers of the committee and expressed hope that they would do their best in the interest of the medical education of doctors.
Dr Chakravarty is a retired medical officer of Coal India Limited (CIL) but is active in medicos-related activities in coal belts as well as in the state by associating with different medical bodies. He said, “Main task of the Academy of Medical Specialties committee is to establish coordination among specialist doctors of different faculties. The committee would hold an online meeting soon to chalk out programs on medical specialities with specialist doctors”.
Dr Pankaj is from the north Chhotanagpur Division and is an eminent doctor of Chas Bokaro. Retired CIL specialist and kidney expert Dr Pandey has been given a new assignment in the state IMA for the first time and is taking an active part in IMA CME programs and other academic activities. Dr Chandan gives full time in medicos activities.
Dr Gaurishankar of Deoghar is the former IMA secretary of the Deoghar chapter. He was the first private doctor in the state who offered district administration and rendered service to patients along with the group during the Corona pandemic in 2020-21.
