Dhanbad, Nov 22: POCSO court on Tuesday awarded 14 years jail imprisonment and imposed penalty of Rs 7,000 to a man for abduction and rape of his minor sister in-law.

The court of special POCSO judge Prabhakar Singh while delivering the judgement on four years old case sentenced the accused Anil Kumar Mandal five years jail and penalty of Rs 2,000 for abduction of minor girl and awarded 14 years jail term and penalty of Rs 5,000 for rape.

The POCSO public prosecutor said that both the sentences of accused would run concurrently. The PP said eight witnesses were examined during the trial.

The FIR was lodged in Tundi police station of the district on May 17, 2018 by the victim family.

As per FIR, the accused, who is cousin brother in-law of the victim, raped her when her father and mother were out of house. Later on February 8, 2018 he took away the girl to Delhi and raped her several times.

In May 2018, the accused returned to Dhanbad from Delhi and registered a false case in Dhanbad Women’s police station against father of the girl alleging that he was going to sell the girl in Uttar Pradesh.

However, the girl became hostile and her father filed an FIR in Tundi police station against Anil Kumar Mandal for abduction and rape in May 2018.
