Dhanbad POCSO court gives death penalty to accused in minor rape case

Dhanbad, Feb 9: The Dhanbad court today gave death penalty to a person in connection with the rape and murder case of a five years old minor.

While holding accused Dabloo Modi as guilty, the court of POCSO Act special judge Prabhakar Singh sentenced him to death for a sexual offense and imposed a fine of Rs 1100. The verdict was reached following a four-year trial.

The Public Prosecutor (PP) of POCSO Court Anil Singh said that the court held Dabloo Modi (35) guilty on February 7 and today (Thursday) announced the quantum of punishment for Modi.

The incident occurred on April 28, 2018, in the Jharudih area under the Monidih police station. As per the FIR lodged by the mother of the victim, her neighbor Dabloo had taken away her daughter to attend a marriage ceremony. When her daughter did not return, she searched her everywhere including the house of Dabloo and the marriage ceremony place.

The next morning, the footwear and clothes of the girl were found in the nearby forest. After the FIR, Dabloo was arrested and since then he has been in judicial custody.
