Dhanbad, Aug 25: The Pathaldih police station officer in-charge Abhay Kumar and Bhowra OP officer in-charge Himanhu Kumar were seriously injured when villagers attacked the office and house of a union leader in Sindri Township on Thursday afternoon.
Dhanbad Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar said that both the officer were admitted at Asian Jalan Hospital in Dhanbad. He added that the station officer in-charge had an injury on his neck by a sharp weapon while controlling the situation.
The Sindri SDPO Abhishek Kumar said that the residents of Badadaha village in large numbers attacked Sindri Shaharpura based Janata Mazdoor Sangh (JMS) leader Lucky Singh office in the afternoon. They ransacked the office and damaged the vehicles parked there. A woman was also injured in attacked.
Meanwhile, security personnel of different police stations had been deployed to control the agitated villagers.
The local sources said that the clash was a result of supremacy war between Lucky Singh, the supporter of former Jharia MLA Sanjiv Singh and Fertilizer Workers Union general secretary Santosh Choudhary.
On August 22, Lucky Singh and his supporters had beaten up Santosh Choudhary and his supporters. Since then, the tension was brewing up in Sindri Township. Apprehending the untoward incideny, thr police force of four police stations have been deployed in Shaharpura area of Sindri to avoid the clash.
However, having seen women and children in large numbers , police restrained in initial stage but later resorted mild force when the villager became out of control.
The police official said legal action would be taken against the people involved in the incident after the probe. Senior police officers including superintendent of police ( rural) Reshma Rameshan, DSP law and order Amar pandey and others reached hospital to see injured officials.
