SUBHASH MISHRA
Dhanbad, March 28: Suspended officer in charge of  Dhanbad Government Rail Police (GRP) station Amarjit Prasad suddenly fell on the road and died on Tuesday morning. Cardiac arrest is said to be the reason for the death.

Rail Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjiv Besra said that Amarjit Prasad (52) along with the Inspector of Barkakana GRP and two other persons were walking to the railway SP office from the GRP station at around 11.25 am when he suddenly fell on the road while talking.

He became unconscious. The railway police constables and officers immediately took him to the nearby Dhanbad Divisional Railway Hospital and doctors there referred him to Asian Jalan Superspecialty Hospital for better treatment where he was declared brought dead.

DSP Besra said that the doctors of the Asian Jalan Hospital said that the prima facie reason for his sudden death looks cardiac arrest but the real cause would be clear only after post-mortem reports.

GRP sources said that the deceased belonged to Khagaul in Bihar but his family lives in Jamshedpur. GRP officials duly informed his family members in Jamshedpur about the incident.

Sources said that Rail DG had recently suspended him for dereliction of duty during train squad checking.
