Dhanbad, Aug 12: Vedanta Steel Limited Bokaro engineer Sandip Suman Ray (32) was killed in a road accident near Chasnala under the Patherdih police station, around 17 km away from here, on Friday late evening.
A police official said the accident occurred around 8 pm. Sandip Suman Ray was coming to Dhanbad Kandra-based house on a bike after completing duty when an unidentified vehicle knocked down him near the gate of Chasnala B Type Officers’ Colony.
Local people immediately admitted him to Chasnala community health centre (CHC) where doctors declared him brought dead.
Rattled by the tragedy, irate mob blocked Dhanbad- Sindri main road on accident spot near Kandra and set a truck on fire in suspicion of committing the incident.
Getting information, Patherdih police station officer in-charge Abhay Singh reached the spot and tried to pacify the irate mob. The police force of Chasnala, Gaushala, Jorapokhar and other stations were also called on the spot as the mob became uncontrolled and involved in sabotaging vehicles.
At late night, the police cleared the Dhanbad-Sindri road from blockade of agitators.
The police official said that the body has been sent for post mortem at the medical college hospital. An FIR would be lodged on complaint of the victim family.
Saurabh Roy, younger brother of the victim, said that his brother used either a bike or four-wheeler to attend his office (Vedanta Steel Bokaro) daily. He had got married last year.
