Ranchi, Aug.16: Function of all the district and sub-divisional courts shall start through the hybrid mode from tomorrow.

Hybrid mode means that 50 percent of courts shall function in physical mode and 50 percent of courts shall function in virtual mode. For running the court a standard operating procedure (SOP) was circulated pertaining to 50 percent roster.  According to the 50 percent roster, a judge will hear cases in physical and virtual mode on alternate days.

Judicial Commissioner of Ranchi, Navneet Kumar, has prepared the roster of 38 judicial officers today to ensure the proper functioning of the courts in hybrid mode.

Principal Judge, family court, Piyush Kumar will do a physical hearing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while he will hear the case in virtual mode on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. In the same way, additional judge of family court Prem Lata Tripathi will hear cases in physical mode on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while she hears the cases in virtual mode on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Similarly, days of all judges have been fixed for hearing in physical and virtual mode to ensure that there should not be crowding in the court campus.

A civil court lawyer said the new arrangement will give them an earning opportunity.

“Virtual mode is not beneficial for advocates as clients are reluctant to pay for attending virtual court as they think that an advocate did nothing sitting at home. Many clients did not turn up citing corona pandemic as a reason but expect advocates to keep on watching their case without a fee. With the beginning of physical court, we hope our earnings will improve,” the civil court lawyer said.
