DMC computer scam: FIR will be registered against the then Municipal Commissioner Manoj Kumar

Ranchi: In the case of disturbances of 4.81 crores in Dhanbad Municipal Corporation in 2016, the troubles of the accused officers are going to increase. An FIR will be registered against the then Municipal Commissioner Manoj Kumar and the then Additional Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Prasad in the case of irregularities in the purchase of computers and other equipment. The Law Department has agreed to this.

Dhanbad Municipal Corporation had written a letter to the department seeking guidance to register an FIR against both the senior officials. On which the department had taken opinion from the law department. After receiving the opinion, the Urban Development Department has directed the DMC to comply with the order given earlier to register an FIR against the accused officers.

On 26 May 2020, the CM had ordered to file an FIR.

On 26 May 2020, CM Hemant Soren had directed the Urban Development Department to take departmental action against Manoj Kumar, Pradeep Kumar Prasad and Anil Yadav and register separate FIRs after complaints of 4.81 crore irregularities. An FIR was also ordered to be registered against Manish Kumar, the then Urban Reform Specialist of DMC.

what is the matter

The agreement was signed with M/s Viam Technology in March 2016 for the e-governance project. Vayam was to prepare various types of software modules, provide necessary hardware equipment and perform data entry work. Vayam also had to do maintenance for a certain period of time. Equipments worth Rs 4.94 crore were purchased. Among them were many equipment including server room equipment, printers, computers. Meanwhile, the officials were accused that 2.65 crore was paid to the company on the basis of fake bills. The corporation had also paid for the materials which the company did not supply.
