Washington D.C.: Leaders worldwide congratulated Donald Trump as he began his second term as the 47th President of the United States. The inauguration marked the continuation of a presidency that has seen significant global engagement and reshaped bilateral relations.

Messages from Global Leaders

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed optimism for enhanced US-Russia relations under Trump’s leadership. Putin highlighted the importance of dialogue to address global conflicts, particularly a peace settlement in Ukraine that respects Russia’s interests.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the historic occasion, expressing his eagerness to strengthen Indo-US ties for mutual benefit. Modi wrote on X, “Best wishes for a successful term ahead,” underscoring India’s commitment to deeper collaboration.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared his heartfelt congratulations, stating, “The best days of our alliance are yet to come,” referencing the strong US-Israel partnership and Trump’s earlier decision to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi praised Trump’s leadership and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strategic cooperation with the US. Sisi emphasized working together to bolster security and stability in the Middle East.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the enduring “special relationship” between the UK and the US, expressing confidence in the partnership’s role in ensuring global stability and prosperity.

Canadian former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Trump while highlighting the strong economic ties between Canada and the US. Trudeau expressed hope for continued collaboration to create jobs and foster economic growth.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reiterated Australia’s friendship with the US, emphasizing the importance of their alliance in addressing shared global challenges.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stressed the significance of a robust transatlantic relationship, noting, “The US is our closest ally.”

Japanese politician Shigeru Ishiba reaffirmed the shared goal of maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific, praising the strong Japan-US partnership.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasized strengthening collaboration between Italy and the US to tackle global challenges and foster stability.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope for peace and stability under Trump’s leadership, lauding his “peace through strength” approach.

Global Anticipation for Cooperation

The widespread congratulations reflect the world’s anticipation for stronger international collaboration. Leaders emphasized shared commitments to stability, peace, and economic growth as they welcomed Trump’s second term.
