Dr Bharti Kashyap honoured with IMA Appreciation Award

New Delhi, July 1: Renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Bharti Kashyap was today felicitated with Indian Medical Association (IMA) Appreciation Award by Dr. Sahajanand Prasad Singh, President of Indian Medical Association in a grand ceremony organized at IMA Bhawan, New Delhi.
In the year 2018, Dr Bharti Kashyap was presented with the Nari Shakti Puraskar by the President of India for her campaign aimed at eradicating cancer among women and protection of vision in poor people, especially children.
The national IMA had conferred Dr. Jyoti Prasad Ganguly Memorial Award to Dr Bharti Kashyap in the year 2021, Women Empowerment Award in the year 2018, Doctor of the Year Award in the year 2017 and Made Achiever Award in the year 2014.
Dr. Kashyap has always been known for her medical profession as well as social work. She has dedicated her life for the health security of women and children in the tribal areas of Jharkhand.
Dr Kashyap prepared the Jharkhand Module for Cervical Cancer Free Jharkhand Campaign and, which was implemented by the State Government. She adopted the Part III of WHO’s Cervical Cancer Elimination Policy 2030 and prepared a practical Jharkhand Module which is easy to follow and through this 50 per cent of the target of Cervical Cancer Screening in Jharkhand State has been achieved in 2021-22.
Under the Vision for Jharkhand Campaign, she established NABH Accredited Super Specialty Eye Hospital in Ranchi, through which she has served more than 20 lakh poor and tribal children of Jharkhand studying in government school. Hundreds of children suffering from cataract have been operated and sent to school again.
The credit for the first cornea transplant in Bihar and Jharkhand goes to Dr. Bharti Kashyap and her husband, Dr. BP Kashyap. She founded Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank, the most active eye bank of Bihar and Jharkhand.
