New Delhi, April 8: The flight trial of the Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) booster was successfully completed on Friday at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) Chandipur off the coast of Odisha by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
“The test has successfully demonstrated the reliable functioning of all critical components involved in the complex missile system and met all the mission objectives,” the DRDO said in a press release.
Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad, developed SFDR in partnership with other DRDO laboratories, including RCI, Hyderabad, and HEMRL, Pune. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh complimented DRDO on the successful demonstration of SFDR, calling it a significant step forward in the country’s development of crucial missile technologies.
Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO, praised the design, development, and testing teams, saying that the successful trial of SFDR will expand the range of Air to Air missiles.
