Ranchi, Jan 11: Jharkhand Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh on Wednesday said that it is expected that the central government will take a positive decision on the report submitted by the central team and will take appropriate steps for the upliftment of the drought-affected farmers.

During a meeting with the central team that had come to assess the drought situation in the state, he added that 226 blocks have come under the grip of drought.

He said that they had made all the preparations in advance and had also done other works from seed distribution, but due to less rain in the state, there has been about 65% less yield.

“Till August 15, instead of 658 mm, only 426.3 mm of rain was received, due to which 226 blocks of the state were affected. The state government is working for the economic empowerment of 58 lakh farmers of the state,” he said.

The central team leader and Joint Secretary S Rukmani said that they have taken stock of Ranchi’s Chanho block and their team will go to seven districts to assess the drought situation and send its report to the sub-committee of the central government.

He said that we are hopeful that the Central Committee will take a positive decision on the recommendations sent by their team.
