Ranchi, July 22: The Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University on Tuesday organized a lecture by Mukul Kanitkar, an eminent educationist, thinker and motivator on the National Education Policy 2020.
Mukul Kanitkar, who has his name registered in the Guinness Book of World Records, while delivering the lecture emphasized the model of indigenous education. He described the new education policy accordingly.
This was called Gandhian thinking and research-driven policy. This is because the basic history of Indian education is rooted in the folk traditions and languages that the New Education Policy presents. Addressing the students at the end in an auditorium, he said that there are three important things in education, namely study-centred, teaching-centred and enjoyable education. Students can be motivated for education only by the combination of these three.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya in his welcome address talked of Mukul Kanitkar and said that not only did he work on the model of indigenous education, but he has also operated continuous workshops related to personality development and research in prestigious institutions like IIT and IIM. Not only this but currently, under the Fit India campaign of the Central Government, about 30,000 school children were trained in the Surya Namaskar in Gwalior by him. His feat is also mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The programme was conducted by Jinder Singh Munda and a vote of thanks was delivered by DSW Dr Anil Kumar. All the teachers, staff and students including Registrar Dr Namita Singh were present on the occasion.
