Ranchi, July 18: The English Language and Literature (ELL), Department of English and Department of Public Administration at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University on Monday organised a lecture seminar to commemorate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at its premises on the topic ‘Life Skills and Campus Life’.

The guest speaker on the occasion was Anjani Kumar, IFS who is currently posted as an Ambassador of India to Mali. While addressing the students on the occasion, Kumar said, “Before you run away in this mundane life, stop for a while. Listen to your own heart. And, then move forward in that direction, whatever you hear, success will be achieved.

Further, while stating the importance of time, he said, “Life is not big enough to waste time. We get a lot of useful work done when we realize that we have very little time in this world to make an impact.”

Sharing life skills tips, he further added that the path of every human being is unique. People do not choose their career by looking at their brother, sister, uncle, or aunt’s relatives, but listen to their conscience. However, it is important to have confidence in oneself.”

Sharing his experience of foreign service, he said, “Foreign service does not mean that we become foreigners. Foreign service means we share our culture with other nations.”

“There is no absolute truth in this life. If the mango tree does not come in the season of November, then this truth is only for India. This is not true for Africa. Their mangoes are found throughout the year. This is the truth of diversity and we should respect that,” Kumar further added.

In response to the questions of the student, he said that in the UPSC interview, one’s presence of mind and personality are checked and not their knowledge. UPSC expects students to maintain a balance between mind and heart.

During his address, University VC Prof Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya said, “Education is incomplete without life skills. A skilled person is like an asset to the country.”

He further said that amid facilities, everyone shines. He who carves himself amid problems is a diamond. Nature sends some qualities inside everyone, you have to develop your skills and make the way to success.
