DSPMU Ranchi to upgrade syllabi of 44 subjects

Ranchi, May 2: The Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) is set to upgrade course syllabi of more than 40 subjects from the new session of 2022. In this regard, the university has already formed a panel of experts that will help decide which syllabi need to be upgraded.

As per sources, this decision has been taken keeping in light, the guidelines issued by the University Grant Commission (UGC), which suggests that up to 15 percent of the syllabi of several courses be changed.

Notably, the university has overall 44 courses, which include traditional and professional courses of UG and PG.

The DSPMU administration has also stated that while changing the syllabus, special focus will be granted to the syllabus of UGC – NET that is to be added in the syllabi to help maximum number of students to clear the exams conducted by UGC on a yearly basis.

Furthermore, similar steps will  be taken by universities all over to make implementation of the New Education Policy.

Talking to the Lagatar24.com correspondent, Vibha Pandey, Deputy Director, Department of Higher and Technical Education, said, “Several universities including the Ranchi University will be changing their syllabi in coordination with the NEP to implement more skill oriented syllabi which will help increase job opportunities.”

DSPMU Registrar Dr. Namita Singh said, “An expert panel for all 44 subjects has been formed to upgrade the syllabus. The process of upgrading the syllabus has been started. The studies will be done according to the upgraded syllabus from the new session of 2022.”

“Keeping in mind the changes taking place at the global level, the syllabus is updated from time to time by the UGC, so that the students here remain in the global competition,” said DSPMU PRO Rajesh Singh.

Meanwhile, once the draft of the upgraded syllabi is ready, it will be sent for approval in the meeting of the Board of Studies. After getting the approval, it will be sent to the Academic Council, from where the upgrade syllabus will be ready after consent.
