Ranchi, Aug 13: NDA meeting was held in the BJP office regarding the Dumri assembly by-election to be held on 5 September in which Yashoda Devi of AJSU was elected as the candidate of NDA. Its formal announcement was made by Doman Singh Munda, a member of the parliamentary board of AJSU, at the party office. AJSU candidate Yashoda Devi will file nomination for the by-election on August 17.

The BJP has announced candidates for all the seats for the by-elections to be held on September 5 in 7 assembly seats in 6 states including Jharkhand. In this, Dumri seat of Jharkhand has gone to AJSU’s account. Yashoda Devi contested against Jagarnath Mahto in 2019 on an AJSU ticket from Dumri. She was second in the election and got a total of 36840 votes.

Yashoda Devi has been active in politics for a long time. Her husband Damodar Mahto was the central general secretary of the AJSU party and Dumri assembly constituency in-charge. He passed away in 2018. To compete with JMM’s female candidate Baby Devi, the NDA has fielded a female candidate in front of her.
