It is the first official visit from Britain since Rishi Sunak became the country’s first prime minister of Indian descent. The British foreign secretary pledged additional British International Investment cooperation between the UK and India during the visit.
According to the British High Commission, this includes 11 million pounds in UK finance for Kinara Capital, a fintech business run by a woman. British International Investment aims to boost economic growth and trade ties with the UK’s allies.
According to the high commission, Cleverly also disclosed a 22 million pound investment by the UK-supported Neev II Fund into Hygenco, a company that would support India’s transition to green energy by developing green hydrogen.
