ECR commemorates Gandhi Jayanti with programmes and Swachhta Pakhwada

Ramgarh, Oct 2: All divisions of the East Central Railway celebrated Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary and organised a Swachhta Pakhwara on Sunday.

Various programs including a Prabhat Pheri was organised along with a street play showcasing the importance of cleanliness. The  officials at ECR distribution cloth bags and organised a large scale plantation programme.

Essay and painting competitions were also organised on topics including ‘Ban on single-use plastic among travelers’ and ‘Awareness campaign about harmful effects of plastic’.

An awarenss campaign was also carried out under the Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat Mission. Officials further informed that ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ was organised in East Central Railway from September 16 to October 2.

During this, cleanliness in station premises, trains and water-booth; quality of drinking water; cleanliness of toilets; availability of sufficient number of dustbins; disposal of waste was taken care of with the help of NGOs and charitable organisations. Under the Swachhta Pakhwada, the ECR is also running an awareness campaign to curb the use of single use plastic.
