New Delhi, Jan 21: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) youth leader Kuntal Ghosh in connection with the teacher recruitment scam on Saturday.

“Ghosh, was first detained on Saturday morning by ED sleuths after which overnight search operations at his Chinar Park apartment was conducted and then he was arrested,” he added.

“We have arrested Kuntal Ghosh this morning for not cooperating with our officers investigating his involvement in illegal appointments in a teachers recruitment scam. We will produce him at a city court today,” the officer told PTI.
“Several documents and a diary were also seized from Ghosh’s twin flats during the search operations by the ED which started on Friday morning,” he added.

The CBI and the ED have been conducting probes into the teacher recruitment scam since last year. More than Rs 100 crore was allegedly raised by leaders of the ruling party in the state from aspiring teachers and non-teaching staff at state-run schools between 2014 and 2021.

Last year, former state education minister Partha Chatterjee and his close associate Arpita Mukherjee were arrested in connection with the case.
