Ranchi, July 20: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) secured six days of police remand of Pankaj Mishra from the special PMLA court of Prabhat Kumar Sharma in Ranchi. The remand period will be counted from tomorrow. Pankaj Mishra will stay at Birsa Munda Central Jail.

The ED said that his police remand was required since the investigation has revealed crucial information about the money trail and kickbacks related to illegal mining where Pankaj Mishra is a key cog.

Pankaj Mishra is the MLA representative of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and he was arrested on Tuesday evening after eight hours of questioning.  He was taken to the Kotwali police station and put behind the lock-up room where he spent his night. Again in the morning, he was taken to the ED office for questioning where he was interrogated by two officials. Later on, he was taken for a Covid test.
