Ranchi: A major extortion racket has come to light in Ranchi, where crores of rupees have allegedly been collected using the name of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Following complaints, the police have initiated an investigation, and an FIR has been lodged at the Pandra Police Station.

According to sources, several Circle Officers (COs) were targeted in the scam, where they were extorted with promises of keeping them safe from ED action. It is reported that around ₹7 crores were collected from various individuals, with claims of shielding them from ED investigations related to land matters and keeping their names off the charge sheets.

Many COs were believed to be under the ED’s radar for land-related issues, making them vulnerable to such extortion schemes. In response to the scam, FIRs have been filed from both sides.

One FIR, filed by lawyer Sujeet Kumar, accuses the other party of abduction and extortion. Meanwhile, Sanjeev Pandey, who has been accused in the case, has countered with allegations of fraud against advocate Sujeet Kumar.

The police are actively investigating both sides of the matter as they attempt to unravel the full extent of this scam.
