Ranchi, Oct 20: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is said to have detained two persons from the premises of RIMS who are suspected to provide mobile phones to the accused of Rs 1000 Crore illegal mining accused Pankaj Mishra.
It has been reliably learnt that they are the driver and a staff of Pankaj Mishra. However one of his drivers is known as Chandan Yadav but it is not clear whether this man is in the picture.
However, the ED did not confirm any such detention. Pankaj Mishra is the MLA representative of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and he is currently lodged at the paying ward of RIMS where he is under treatment.
However, well-placed sources in the ED said that they had information about mobile phones being used by some suspects of some of the recent cases of money laundering.
The ED is investigating three big tickets cases namely NREGA scam involving IAS Pooja Singhal and her chartered accountant Suman Kumar Singh, illegal mining scam involving Pankaj Mishra, power broker Prem Prakash and Amit Agrawal besides cash for PIL case.
Pankaj Mishra called a top politician to sue peace
Well placed sources said that sometimes after his arrest, Pankaj Mishra had even called a senior state politician to seek his help to get rid of the money laundering case. It was reliably learnt that Pankaj Mishra was rebuffed and asked not to call again.
The ED got the input that Pankaj Mishra has been controlling the mining activity in Sahibganj over phone and he has been in touch with officials of the district administration.
ED notices to Birsa Munda Central Jail superintendent
Notably, the ED had served a notice to the jail superintendent of Birsa Munda Central Jail to seek clarification on the allegations that jail manuals are being flouted for high profile prisoners are allowed luxury and free access to outside communication.
