Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a series of raids early Monday at six locations across Ranchi, including Ratu Road, Harmu, and Morhabadi, as part of its investigation into allegations of extortion under the guise of ED involvement in a land scam. Among the properties raided is the residence of Vijay Agarwal on Indrapuri Road, Ratu Road, along with several other locations. Simultaneous searches are also being carried out in Harmu and Morhabadi.
Details of the Case
The ED’s action stems from an FIR filed at the Pandara police station in Ranchi. Advocate Sujit Kumar has been accused of defrauding people out of ₹6 crore, falsely claiming to have the ability to influence the ED’s investigation. The ED has registered an ECIR (Economic Offense Complaint Report) in connection with the allegations, intensifying the probe.
Prior Raids Linked to the Investigation
Earlier, on October 8, the ED had raided multiple locations in Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Patna as part of the same investigation. Those raids targeted properties associated with Advocate Sujit Kumar, Kanke Circle Officer Jay Kumar Ram, former Circle Officer and Dhanbad DTO Diwakar Dwivedi, former Namkum Circle Officer Prabhat Bhushan, and land dealer Sanjeev Pandey. Several incriminating documents were recovered during these raids, which are now under scrutiny. On October 12, further raids were conducted in the Chutia area of Ranchi.
