Ranchi, May 3: Prosecution witness Kamla Kant Pathak supported a complaint of illegal mining in Jharkhand’s Sahibganj court during an examination before the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) special court.

Pathak was a member of the inquiry committee constituted after a case of illegal mining was registered. The ED, which is probing money laundering, produced him as a witness before the court.  Pathak said the illegal mining was done and several pieces of evidence supporting the illegal act have been found. He, however, said at the time of the survey, no illegal mining activity was being carried out.

Pathak will be cross-examined by the defence counsel on Thursday.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra besides Bachchu Yadav, Prem Prakash and Dahu Yadav are among the accused in this case
