Ranchi, May 14: Eminent anthropologist and educationist Dr Karma Oraon, the backbone of the tribal society, passed away early this morning. Dr Karma Oraon breathed his last at the age of 72. For the last few days, he was undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Ranchi.
Dr. Karma Oraon was agitating for many problems of Jharkhand including the present Sarna Dharma Code. He has guided the world by visiting more than 12 countries. His departure is an irreparable loss to Jharkhand, India and the whole world including tribal society. Due to his contribution and excellent work, he will always remain immortal in everyone’s heart. May Sarna Maa rest her soul in peace and give strength to her family and society to bear this unbearable loss.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren and many people from political circles have expressed deep condolence over the death of educationist and agitator Dr Karma Oraon, who was vocal about Jharkhandi issues. CM Hemant Soren tweeted and wrote that the sad news of the demise of Dr Karma Oraon ji, a great educationist and always alert and thinking about tribal upliftment, was received. Dr Karma Oraon ji used to give guidance on many subjects. Today I have suffered a personal loss due to his death. May God give peace to the departed soul and give sorrow to the bereaved family members. Give me the strength to bear this difficult time.
महान शिक्षाविद तथा आदिवासी उत्थान के प्रति हमेशा सजग रहने और चिंतन करने वाले डॉ करमा उरांव जी के निधन का दुःखद समाचार मिला। डॉ करमा उरांव जी से कई विषयों पर मार्गदर्शन मिलता था। उनके निधन से आज मुझे व्यक्तिगत क्षति हुई है।

He wrote in a tweet that Dr Karma Oraon remained devoted to the upliftment of tribal culture and society throughout his life, receiving the sad news of the demise of eminent anthropologist and educationist Dr Karma Oraon. His remarkable work for language, culture and society will always inspire people. May God give you a place in his feet. Humble tribute.
