Eight teams across Jharkhand to compete in 43rd All India Women’s Railway Hockey Championship

Ranchi, Dec 20: A total of eight teams from various zonal railway units are taking part in the 43rd All India Women’s Railway Hockey Championship being held at the Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Hatia, Ranchi. The teams are divided into two groups.

The final of the tournament will be held on December 26. 

The teams of Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway, East Central Railway and South Eastern Railway have been placed in Bridge A whereas the teams of Central Railway, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala, North Eastern Railway, and Western Railway have been kept in Bridge B. 

A total of 16 matches will be played in the tournament featuring players who have represented India in Rio Olympics 2016 and Tokyo Olympics 2020, and who will represent their respective railway zonal teams. 

Notably, Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan of the Ranchi division will also feature in the tournament. Apart from them, Vandana Katariya, Monika, who has been awarded Arjuna Award and 15 other Olympians are also playing in the tourney.

In the semis and finals, the best players will be awarded the player of the match award and at the end of the tourney, apart from the winner and runners-up prizes, awards will also be given to the best player of the tournament and goalkeeper of the tournament.

Moreover, spectators will be able to enjoy the All India Women’s Railway Hockey Championship free of cost.
