Simdega, Sept 21: An elephant died in Kundurmunda Takbahal of Bolba police station area of Simdega district of Jharkhand. A team of the forest department arrived on the spot. It is being said that the elephant died after being hit by an electric current. There was a lightning bolt hanging between the two poles at the place of incident and the grip between those killed the animal. The dead elephant is about 40 years old. DFO Arvind Kumar Gupta said that he has received the information and has left for the spot immediately. The situation will be clear only after the post-mortem report as to how the elephant died. According to the officials, elephants often come out of the forest to eat crops etc. and this is their favorite place.
