New Delhi, Oct 22: Hu Jintao, the former leader of China, was unexpectedly escorted out of the Communist Party’s congress’ closing ceremony on Saturday. On social media, journalists who were present at the event posted a video. Hu appeared surprised in the footage as he was led away.

According to Reuters, two stewards took Hu, a 79-year-old man sat to Xi’s left, off the stage of the main auditorium of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The reason is unclear as to why the Chinese leader was removed, and more details were awaited.

In order to further solidify Xi Jinping’s central standing, the Chinese Communist party successfully amended its charter as it wrapped up its twice-decade congress on Saturday.

The third five-year term of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s presidency is likely to begin.
