Hazaribag, April.21: Money has been demanded from an unknown phone number and that too from the brother of a prisoner in the name of Kumar Chandrashekhar, who is superintendent of Hazaribagh Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan Central Jail. The call came to the brother of a prisoner with the caller saying he is jail superintendent Chandrashekhar demanding Rs.10,000 from him. On Thursday night, an FIR was lodged in this regard.
Calling from mobile number 7454995899, an unknown person told the brother of prisoner Deepak Kumar that he is the jail superintendent. He told that Deepak has suffered injuries and Rs.10,000 is needed for his treatment.
When the relatives reached the jail and informed the superintendent about this, he was left speechless for a while. He asked Deepak’s relatives to call on that mobile number again. When that number was dialled, relatives came to know that it was not the number of the superintendent but of a fraudster. Taking this seriously, Kumar Chandrashekhar has registered a case against the said mobile number holder at Lohshingna police station. The police have started their investigation into the case.
Superintendent Kumar Chandrasekhar said that money was demanded by giving false information and that too in his name. The person demanding money called twice in a row and demanded money saying the condition of the prisoner was serious. He termed this a serious matter and so registered the case. Police officials said they are probing as to how this fraudster got the number of the prisoner’s brother. We will crack this case soon, they added.
