Fierce battle between Congress and AJSU in Ramgarh bypolls

Ramgarh, Jan 27: With the announcement of the date of the by-election in the Ramgarh Assembly, the political parties have become more active. The by-election is likely to be interesting as it will be held for the second time in three years.

Political party leaders have started campaigning from their level. Sunita Chowdhary, wife of Giridih MP Chandraprakash Chowdhary, will contest the election from the AJSU party, while Bajrang Mahato, husband of former Congress MLA Mamta Devi will contest the election from the Congress party. It has also been discussed that the upcoming UPA-NDA alliance elections will see a fierce battle between the two candidates.

The Pradesh Congress Political Affairs Committee held a meeting in Ramgarh to discuss the election strategy and candidacy. Meanwhile, AJSU has started a series of meetings and campaigns regarding the election. The voting for the Ramgarh by-election will take place on February 27, and the results of the elections will be announced on March 2.

MP Chandraprakash Chaudhary said that AJSU will contest the election. However, it has not been officially announced yet. Earlier, AJSU lost the last assembly elections due to a lack of alliance with the BJP.

As per the new voter list, 3,34,167 voters will exercise their vote in this by-election in the Ramgarh assembly constituency. In which 1,72,923 male voters and1,61,244 female voters are included. While the number of 80-year-old voters is 3,648 and the number of 60-year-old voters is 27,300 and the number of disabled voters is 6,311.

Preparations are being made to provide better facilities so that all the voters in the booth do not face problems. All the voters will vote in 506 EVMs. The voter turnout in the 2009 assembly elections was 67.6 per cent while 70.72 per cent in the 2014 assembly elections, and 71.36 per cent in the 2019 assembly elections. Notably, initiatives are taken to increase the percentage of votes in the by-polls.
