New Delhi, May 31: The Indian women’s hockey team has climbed to sixth place in the FIH World Hockey Rankings, which is their highest ever position. The Indian women’s hockey team is now ahead of Spain, which just lost both of its FIH Hockey Pro League 2021/22 matches to Argentina, as well as one each to Belgium and England.
With 22 points in eight games, the Indian women are currently in third place in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2021/22. On the 11th and 12th of June 2022, India will play Belgium in a doubleheader.
“As a team, we aim to improve and grow and become a consistent contender in Women’s Hockey. The rise in the FIH World Rankings is a nice indicator that we are on the right path,” said Indian women’s hockey chief coach Janneke Schopman.
“At the same time with the FIH Women’s Hockey Pro League and FIH Women’s World Cup coming up, things can change quickly and therefore we have to keep focusing on our own performance,” she added.
