Jamshedpur, June 17: A CRPF jawan has been booked for allegedly entering into a house with ill-intention under Chaibasa Muffasil thana area in naxals-riddled West Singhbhum on Thursday midnight.
The incident took place at Jojohatu village near which a camp of CRPF’s 197 battalions is located.
The Chaibasa Muffasil police registered a case against the erring jawan on Friday evening after the villagers had staged a demonstration at the police station, seeking action against the accused.
According to police, a teenage girl was in deep slumber in a room at her uncle’s house in Jojohatu village on Thursday midnight as other members of the family were asleep in other rooms.
But the girl woke up on hearing some unusual sounds coming from the room itself. On finding out she saw a hefty man hiding behind the cot. Having seen a stranger in the room, the girl screamed, leading other members to rush to the spot.
On being nabbed, the stranger got infurious and attacked the male members and fled the scene immediately. The family members chased the man only to see him making his way into the CRPF camp.
On Friday morning the concerned family members mobilised support and went over to the CRPF camp to protest. On making an allegation of a jawan intruding into a house with ill-intention, CRPF’s senior officials made a spot verification and tried to resolve the matter by convincing the agitated villagers.
As nothing fruitful came out from their protest at the CRPF camp, the villagers went over to the Chaibasa Muffasil thana where they demonstrated demanding the police to identify the culprit and to take necessary action against him.
As it was a serious allegation, the Chaibasa Muffasil police called in the CWC functionaries and made them take statement from the minor. On the basis of the girl’s statement given to the CWC that the police registered a case against the CRPF jawan.
Chaibasa SDPO, Dilip Khalko said they are investigating the case and necessary appropriate action will be taken against the accused after the investigation gets through.
