Daltonganj, April 28: An FIR has been lodged against a doctor and ten other paramedics of the MMCH Daltonganj. As per SDPO Surjit Kumar, the FIR has been lodged against Dr Qadir Perwez and a host of nurses and other paramedics.
The SDPO further said that the FIR has been lodged following the death of a young woman after a normal delivery at the MMCH Daltonganj was botched up on April 26.
Details of the FIR became public on Thursday after the FIR was lodged on April 27.
Dr Dilip Kumar Singh, Medical superintendent, MMCH said that a twenty-year-old woman named Anjali Devi of Manika block in Latehar district was admitted to MMCH Daltonganj on the morning of April 26 and gave birth to a girl child via normal delivery.
“It was a post-dated delivery which means after the child was in the womb several days after her due date passed,” said the medical superintendent.
“However she developed postpartum haemorrhage,” the medical superintendent further added. She had a minor incision and normal delivery.
It led to blood deficiency as her haemoglobin count came down to 8.4 gm. One unit of blood was also transfused; however, she could not be saved.
Senior nurses and other paramedics did not inform the unit doctor about the deteriorating condition of Anjali Devi.
As a result, she was referred to the RIMS Ranchi on April 26, but it was late. She passed away en route to Ranchi on April 26 itself.
Her husband, Binod Baraik and kin staged a protest at the MMCH Daltonganj on the next day, i.e. April 27 against the doctor, nurses and other paramedics. They wanted suspension of the doctor and transfer for all the paramedics involved.
Superintendent Dr Dilip said, “We have served show-cause notices to Dr Qadir Perwez, nurses and others.
Prima facie, the negligence of nurses and other staff have been proven as they did not inform the doctor about the deteriorating health of the patient, said the superintendent.
Palamu civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said that he will take stern action against the nurses and other paramedics while in the case of the doctor, the state health department will be written to in order to initiate action against him. Charges of negligence will be framed, he reiterated.
