Dhanbad, Aug 31: The flying squad of the Dumri (Giridih) assembly by-poll has lodged an FIR against AIMIM candidate Muzaffar Hassan Nunani and some unknown persons for violation of the Model Code of Conduct and disturbing communal harmony in the wake of a video viral which shows Asaduddin Owaisi supporters raising Pakistan zindabad slogans in his (Owaisi) rally on Wednesday.

Additionally, an FIR has also been filed against the organizer of the rally Abdul Mobin Rizvi, said Giridih Deputy Commissioner Naman Priyesh Lakra.

Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday afternoon was addressing a poll rally in Dumri in support of his party candidate Muzaffar Hassan Nunani when, during his speech, his supporters began raising slogans of Pakistan zindabad.

Dumri is around 49 km away from Giridih district headquarters. In the by-poll six candidates including Baby Devi of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Babita Devi of the AJSU are in the fray.

A video of the Owaisi supporters raising slogans of Pakistan Zindabad became viral in the evening. Dumri SDM Sahjad Parvej immediately took cognizance in the evening and said that the video clipping was being authenticated. If found true, legal action would be taken.

Today (Thursday) in the morning, the Giridih district administration issued a notification saying that at the rally of AIMIM on Wednesday Pakistan Zindabad slogans were raised from the public stand when Asaduddin Owaisi was addressing. “It was a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and disturbing communal harmony,” said the Flying Squad in its complaint to the Dumri police station.

When contacted, a Dumri police station officer admitted that an FIR has been lodged against the candidate of AIMIM. However, he refused to share what Sections have been slapped against him.
