Five die after BSF jawan opens fire inside Amritsar BSF mess

Amritsar, March 6: Bullets were fired at the BSF mess in Amritsar’s Khasa hamlet, killing five Border Security Forces (BSF) jawans, including the policeman who opened fire. On Sunday, March 6, the incident occurred.

According to reports, the BSF constable who allegedly opened fire inside the BSF mess in Amritsar is also injured. One of the jawans who was hurt is in critical condition.

The bodies of four BSF jawans have arrived at the hospital so far. Many more are said to have been gravely hurt as a result of the tragedy.

“In an unfortunate incident, 5 BSF troops were injured on March 6, due to fratricide committed by Ct Satteppa SK at HQ 144 Bn Khasa, Amritsar. Ct Satteppa SK was also injured in the incident. Out of the 6 injured, 5, including Ct Satteppa, have lost their lives. One of the injured is critical. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the facts,” BSF officials said in a statement.

Meanwhile, all the injured jawans have been admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital. Police have started an investigation into the matter.
