Daltonganj, May 15: A pall of gloom descended upon Chhatarpur as five baraatis from Palamu’s Chhatarpur died on the spot while two more travelling in the same car, sustained multiple severe injuries in Bihar’s Nabinagar police station area on Sunday morning.

According to the sub-divisional police officer of Chhatarpur, Ajay Kumar, the car having a total of seven occupants jumped out of a canal bridge under Bihar’s Nabinagar police station in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

“The two severely injured have been taken to the BHU hospital in Varanasi for better treatment,” Ajay added.

According to the sources the condition of the two injured is very critical.

“The 7 baraatis were coming from the wedding ceremony from Nabinagar to Chhatarpur which had gone to Nabinagar on Saturday itself,” said sources.

Bodies would arrive in Chhatarpur only after the Nabinagar police had released them following the completion of their post mortem there.
