Lakhimpur-Kheri, Nov.9: The Forensic Science Laboratory on Tuesday confirmed that shots were fired from the licenced guns of suspects Ankit Das and Ashish Misra during the Lakhimpur Kheri riots on October 3.
The guns licenced to Ashish Misra and Ankit Misra were seized by the Lakhimpur police. On October 15, all of the firearms were sent for forensic testing. Farmers claimed that amid the violence, Ashish and Ankit fired numerous bullets.
During a demonstration against Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3, eight persons were killed. A car carrying BJP workers collided with four farmers and a journalist. Ashish Misra, the son of Union Minister Ajay Misra, is one of the 13 people detained in connection with the farmers’ deaths.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court expressed displeasure with the Uttar Pradesh government’s status report in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case on Monday, suggesting that the investigation be overseen by a retired high court judge.
