Daltonganj, Feb 2: An adult and healthy male sambhar strayed into the town area of Chhatarpur today, about 48 kilometers away from Daltonganj.

The nervous looking sambhar got stuck between two lorries on NH 98.

Deputy Director (South division) of Palamu Tiger Reserve Mukesh Kumar said, “The moment we got this information of straying of sambhar on the NH 98, we activated forest personnel of Chhatarpur range.”

Efforts were made to capture it but in vain. One of the forest guards Jugnu Kumar, who was a member of the rescue team of the sambhar, said that the sambhar sprang towards the Mahoowari jungle and hence, could not be captured.

The location where this sambhar was found is not under the Palamu tiger reserve.
