New Delhi, Oct 10: State-owned oil companies have increased the prices of petrol and diesel for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday. Today, the price of petrol in Delhi has been increased by 30 paise and the price of diesel by 35 paise per liter. After the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, the price of petrol in Delhi has reached Rs 104.14 and the price of diesel has reached Rs 92.82 per liter.
Petrol now costs Rs 104.80 per litre in Kolkata, while diesel costs Rs 95.93. Meanwhile, in Chennai, petrol has been raised to Rs 101.53 and diesel to Rs 97.26. Similarly, Diesel now costs Rs 100.66 a litre in Mumbai and petrol costs Rs 110.12 per litre.
Notably, Petrol and diesel have become expensive 9th times in 10 days this month. Due to this, petrol has become costlier by Rs 2.50 and diesel by Rs 2.95.
Anuj Gupta, Vice President (Commodity & Currency), IIFL Securities says that ‘due to increased demand for crude oil, its price has crossed $ 80 and it can go up to $ 90 in the coming days. Due to this, the price of petrol and diesel can increase’.
On Friday, Brent crude closed at $ 82.58 per barrel in the US market. This is the highest level of crude oil in 3 years. Earlier in October 2018, crude oil had crossed $82.
Oil marketing companies fix the rates of petrol and diesel daily after reviewing the prices. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum revise the rates of petrol and diesel at 6 am.
