Giridih Bar Asso: Prakash Sahay, Chhunu Kant re-elected president, secretary

Dhanbad, Aug 21: Senior lawyers Prakash Sahay and Chhunu Kant were re-elected president and secretary respectively of the Giridih Bar Association for the 2023-25 term.

In the election, Prakash Sahay (432) defeated Sukhdeo Bhasker (238) by 194 votes while Chhunu Kant  (355) beat Puran Mahto (270) by 85 votes.

Prakash Sahay has become the president for the third consecutive time while Chhunu Kant became the secretary of the association for the fourth time. The election was held on Saturday.

For one post of vice-president, Ajay Sinha Mantu (328) was declared the winner. The two other candidates in the race,  Balgovind Sahu (300) and Keshav Kumar Darad (35) were left in the second and third positions respectively.

For one post of joint secretary administration, Dasharath Prasad (299) was declared the winner. The second candidate Shivendra Sinha got 242 votes. For the post of joint secretary library, Shubhonil Samanta (292) was declared elected while his rival Sunit Kumari got 247 votes.

Shiv Kumar Gupta  (215) became the new treasurer in a keenly contested election by one vote victory over his rival Amit Kumar Sinha (214). Dinesh Kumar Rana ( 323) become assistant treasurer. The second candidate Jyoti Kumar Sinha got 289 votes.

Nine candidates, Vishal Anand (373), Bhubneswar Mahta (350),  Amit Sinha (328), Chandan Kumar Sinha (311),  Vinod Kumar Yadav (265), Vinod Paswan (254), Urmila Sharma ( 250), Dinesh Sharma (232), Uttam Kumar Sinha ( 232) were elected as executive members.
