Dhanbad, July 19: A fraud of Rs 1.26 lakh has rocked the town branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Giridih district.
The branch manager Babloo Kumar has lodged FIR in the town police station against a clerk staff of the branch named Prashant Kumar and an account holder Bipin Kumar Verma in this connection.
Branch manager Babloo Kumar in his complaint to the police station has alleged that clerk Prasant Kumar in connivance with account holder Bipin Kumar Verma fraudulently withdrew the amount of Rs 1.26 lakh of an account holder named Bipul Devi.
Both the accused have been absconding after the complaint. Police have lodged FIR under IPS Sections 420, 409, 406,/34 against them.
Bipul Devi, a resident of Adhanchua village of Bengabad police station, had a fixed deposit of Rs 1.26 lakh in the PNB branch at Kalibari Chowk under Sadar police station. When she reached the branch to withdraw her money after the maturity of the fixed deposit, she found zero balance in her account.
Bipul Devi complained to the branch manager. During the probe, manager Babloo Kumar Verma found that staff Prashant Kumar transferred the amount of Bipul Devi to the account of Bipin Kumar Verma and both withdrew the same.
“After getting solid evidence of Prasant Kumar and Bipin Kumar Verma’s involvement in bank fraud, I lodged an FIR against both in the police station,” said Babloo Kumar. He added that Bipul Devi’s money (Rs 1.26 lakh) would be compensated from Prashant Kumar’s account.
Town police station officer-in-charge RN Choudhary said that the investigation is in progress and both the accused would be nabbed soon.
