Ranchi, Oct 11: Cardinal Telesphore P Toppo was given a guard of honour before his mortal remains were buried with state honours. Prayers were offered for the repose of the late Cardinal’s soul.
CM Hemant Soren, MP Mahua Maji, MLA Neha Shilpi Tirkey, and religious guru Bandhan Tigga were present. Earlier on Wednesday, the mortal remains of Cardinal Telesphore P. Toppo were brought to Loyola Ground from Saint Mary’s Church for the last ‘darshan’ of the people. Thousands of followers accompanied the funeral procession. Here Bishop Bishop Felix Toppo, Priest of Saint Mary Church Anand David Khalkho, Father George, and Bishop Anand Jojo were leading. The Mass was organized at Loyola Ground at 2 pm. The rituals were conducted here till 3 o’clock in the day.
Earlier, from 6 to 12 in the morning, the mortal remains of Cardinal Toppo were kept for the last darshan of the people. Notably, Cardinal Toppo died on October 4 at the age of 84 in Livons Hospital, Mandar. On October 10, the body was brought to Saint Mary Church. Here special prayers were offered for about two-three hours for the peace of his soul.
