Ranchi, Sept.28: A girl missing for the last 14 years from Chainpur in Gumla, Jayanti Lakra, returned home.
The development took place after some time ago it came to the knowledge of Chief Minister Hemant Soren that she is in Punjab. After this, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the State Migrant Control Room under the Labour Department came into action and she was brought back from Punjab to Ranchi via Delhi. On Tuesday, she was sent to her village in Gumla along with her family members.
Jayanti is a resident of Kitam village located in the Dumri block of Gumla. She used to work as a cook in Sant Anna Chainpur. According to family members, she went missing about 14 years ago.
After she went missing, she was found in Punjab, where she had to wander a lot. She found refuge in the Guru Nanak Old Age Ashram in Punjab. The matter reached the State Migrant Control Room on September 9 2021.
When CM Soren came to know about the matter, he directed officials to bring Jayanti back to Jharkhand and hand her over to her family members. After constant talks with the family of Jayanti Lakra and Guru Nanak Old Age Ashram in Punjab, arrangements were made to bring her to Ranchi.
