Halted coal transportation at Ritwik GM Bhaskar Singh’s instance: Arrested suspects to police

Hazaribag, May 15: In a case related to the disruption of coal transportation in Chatti-Bariatu coal mines, police arrested six criminals who admitted to doing this work on the instruction of the general manager of Ritwik company, Bhaskar Singh.

Last week, another GM of Ritwik company, Sharad Kumar was gunned down in Barkagaon with information that the vehicle used by the slain manager was of Bhaskar Singh only. The police had interrogated Bhaskar also in this murder case when it came to know about some land deals which are under investigation.

Hazaribag SP Manoj Ratan Chauthe said at the Chatti-Bariatu coal mines under the Keredari police station area, unknown people riding a white SUV threatened the vehicles of the company doing transportation work on May 8. Due to this, the transportation work came to a standstill.  A case in this regard was lodged in Keredari police station numbered-116/ 23, date-10.05.2023 section-147/ 148/ 149/ 385/ 387/ 353/ 504/ 506/ and 34 of IPC.

A special raiding team was formed by Chauthe under the leadership of Amit Kumar Singh, Sub-divisional police officer of Barkagaon to uncover the threats being received by the coal companies and the crimes committed for the last few days.

Working on the tip-off received by various sources and technical cell, the police team arrested six suspects riding in a white coloured SUV. During the in-depth interrogation of the suspects, it came to the knowledge of the police that they are involved in a threatening case at Chatti Bariatu coal mines. In his confession statement by the detained accused Ramchandra Soni a.k.a Rama Soni, he said that the incident was committed under a conspiracy on the instructions of GM Bhaskar Singh of Ritwik Company.

The involvement of GM Bhaskar Singh in this incident has been confirmed through the technical branch also. Chauthe said the police team is probing the involvement of this gang in other cases. Even the involvement of GM Bhaskar Singh of Ritwik Company is being thoroughly investigated, he asked.  It is notable that the arrested accused have a long criminal history. The arrested accused are identified as Ramchandra Soni a.k.a Rama Soni, Vivek Kumar Soni, Sanjay Rana, Aditya Soni, Mohd. Shahzad and Mohd. Shamsher Alam.
