The state government claims that the high court made its ruling after only a one-and-a-half-minute hearing. It further claims that the state’s attorney was not heard at the High Court.
The Haryana government moved the Supreme Court to overturn the stay, claiming that the ruling was unsustainable and against natural justice.
Notably, the Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Act, 2020, was passed in November last year. It had come into effect on January 15 this year.
Following the law’s implementation, Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala stated that it will provide new employment opportunities for thousands of young people.
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya signed the Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Bill, 2020 in March 2021.
